DTP & Print Control

DTP, print-ready artwork, layout templates, preflight checks, and print control. rausr prepares approved designs for the actual production process.

Your question, our starting point

Is the artwork actually ready for the printer?

We provide DTP, final artwork preparation, reusable layout templates, and agreed print-control support. The work turns approved designs into organised production files and checks them against the actual printer’s specifications, with proof review or production coordination where included in the scope.

What can go wrong after a layout is approved?

Wrong dimensions, missing links, unsuitable image resolution, text overflow, unexpected overprint, and an incorrect export can all travel through an attractive design. DTP gives those details their own review before the printer receives the final package.

We work from the supplier’s specification. Bleed, safe zones, page order, colour handling, transparency, spot colours, and cutting or finishing layers depend on the job. There is no one PDF preset that cooks every dish correctly.

How do templates help repeat work?

For recurring documents, catalogues, and panel families, structured master files and clear styles make later versions easier to maintain. We can prepare layout templates or supplier-based drawing templates with agreed dimensions, guides, naming, and example content.

The update workflow matters as much as the template. We clarify which fields change, which elements stay fixed, and who approves the final content. Production templates are tied to the confirmed system and need review when a supplier changes the specification.

What does print control involve?

We can review proofs, raise production questions, and compare an agreed reference within the quoted scope. Physical samples and the printer’s process remain important for colour-sensitive work. If the main issue is substrate or cross-material consistency, colour matching consultation is the next useful conversation. Final print approval and supplier responsibilities are agreed before production starts.

What do you receive?

The final list belongs in the quote. Depending on your brief, the recipe can include:

  • Prepared or corrected production artwork
  • A preflight review against agreed supplier specifications
  • Reusable layout masters or template drawings where required
  • An output list, proof comments, or print-control notes within the agreed scope

What should you send us?

  • Editable source files, linked assets, fonts, and approved content
  • Printer specifications, final dimensions, finishing, and quantity
  • Colour references, proofing plan, deadline, and approval responsibility

Missing an ingredient? Send what you have. We can help turn the unknowns into a workable brief.

A few practical answers

Before we start cooking.

Can you fix a file made by another designer?

Often, yes. We first review the available source material and output requirements. Missing fonts, low-resolution originals, or incomplete links may need replacement before a reliable final file can be prepared.

Bring the problem. We’ll help with the recipe.

Tell us what needs to work, when you need it, and what you already have. We’ll work out the scope and next steps with you.
